In line with increased COVID-19 case numbers and associated restrictions in NSW and ACT.
Unfortunately, the Capital Region Farmers Market will be CLOSED this coming Saturday 21st August 2021.
The Rotary Club of Hall, which runs the Market, confirms that the Market will not operate this weekend.
The decision is based on the increased numbers of community transmission of Covid-19 in the ACT announced over the past two days, along with increased Covid-19 restrictions in both NSW and the ACT affecting farmers, producers and their transport of goods.
Safety is the Market’s number one priority, and the Market wishes to ensure the ongoing safety of the Canberra community, stallholders and volunteers to help reduce the risk of transmission. This also supports the ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr’s message for Canberrans to stay at home.
The Market would like to thank all of our shoppers for supporting our stallholders during this difficult time.
Keen to still support your favourite stallholder? Please keep an eye out on our social media for stallholder notices on how you may be able to access home delivery or special offers, and also check directly on our stallholders’ profile page on our website, as well as their own social media channels.
We will reassess the situation early next week with regards to the Market resuming on the following Saturday 28th August.
Our Market will be open this coming Saturday, though it will be operating in a limited capacity. Many of our stallholders are an essential food service bringing the Canberra region fresh, healthy produce, and will continue to maintain food supply from regional growers and a healthy diet for Canberrans.
While the ACT remains in lockdown, the Market will be offering essential food only. That means there will be no plants, no flowers, and no ready to eat food. Food and beverages are not to be consumed on premises (coffee will not be being served).
When attending the Market, the following rules will be in place for all shoppers:
Please follow all directions from volunteers and stallholders to help keep our market and community safe.
To remain open as safely as possible, there will be a reduced number of stallholders in attendance. The This Week at the Market page will be regularly updated, please check prior to visiting to plan your visit.
Our Market will be open this coming Saturday. We are an essential food service bringing the Canberra region fresh, healthy produce, and will continue to maintain food supply from regional growers and a healthy diet for Canberrans.
Please be aware of restrictions put in place by ACT Health and follow all advice in relation to listed Areas of Concern. In particular – do not attend the Market if you have been in the Greater Sydney region. You must follow ACT Health Stay at Home requirements immediately.
The Market is following all advice from ACT Health and all stallholders are taking precautions to ensure the safety of our shoppers and the Canberra community.
While masks will no longer be a mandatory requirement for shoppers, the ACT Government encourages the use of face masks when you are unable to physically distance yourself from others.
When attending the Market, we ask that shoppers:
Thank you to everyone for helping us keep the Market and our Canberra community safe!
Our Market will be open this coming Saturday. We are an essential food service bringing the Canberra region fresh, healthy produce, and will continue to maintain food supply from regional growers and a healthy diet for Canberrans.
We have received positive feedback from the community and will continue to support our farmers and growers for as long as we can. Thank you to our customers who are well aware of space, stand back and keep the social distancing measures top of mind.
We now ask for our community to work together to keep everyone safe. We are putting in as many measures as we can so that we can continue to access fresh food while also making sure we can follow social distancing to do our bit to move through this situation.
Please follow all directives from ACT Health and do not visit the Market if you have visited a listed restricted area or you have been directed to isolate.
Stallholders who are from a restricted area will not be attending the Market. Their produce is allowed to be transported into the ACT and we are working with them to ensure their produce can still be available to our Canberra community.
We have reintroduced tables and chairs into our food court area, however we need everyone’s help in keeping our Market safe. All shoppers are asked to clear and wipe down their tables after use, as well as sanitise their hands once they have finished eating.
Please Note: Our changed traffic arrangements will still be in place for the Market this Saturday, with all vehicle access to be via Old Wells Station Road only. All pedestrian access will be via Gate 4 (Service Station entry) only.

As an essential food service, Capital Region Farmers Market will remain open so that we can continue to offer the ACT community the opportunity to purchase fresh regional food from known sources / growers at a time when there is a need to maintain food supply and healthy diets.
We are taking the current situation very seriously and will be taking additional measures to minimise the risk of exposure to COVID-19 for our stallholders and customers.
New measures include:
We ask that our customers please:
Thank you to all of our customers for your support of our farmers during this difficult time. We know how important it is for you to be able to access fresh regional food to maintain health and wellbeing. We will continue to provide this opportunity to the ACT for as long we are able, however, we will remain reliant on advice provided by the Chief Minister’s Office and ACT Health for the best interests of the community.
