• Competition is open to all young cooks in Canberra and surrounds, aged 16 and under. If the cook is 15 years or younger, we will also need parental permission. You will be asked to provide your name, age, where you’re from, your email and phone number. We will also need one parent’s contact details for all communications.
• The first twenty registrations only meeting the entry criteria of 16 and under from the Canberra region will be accepted.
• Entrants MUST register online to start the entry process, and proceed ONLY once entry is confirmed by the Market Manager – as part of your sign up you will be subscribed to further Market communications.
• The entry criteria includes: Being available on the 20th or 27th August to pick up your vouchers and purchase your ingredients; that you allow your name, age and content created to be published on our website, social media and marketing content (indefinitely); that you are willing to create a video showing either your experience shopping at the Market for your fresh ingredients and/or you creating your recipe and explaining why you made this particular dish (dishes need to be prepared and created by the young chef, supervision by an adult is permitted); your video must be accompanied by your written recipe (word doc); and that you will be available on 17th September to cook your recipe live at the Market.
• Competition starts 10 August 2022, a $30 gift voucher for each contestant will be available for pick up only at Market on the two designated dates – Saturday 20th August and Saturday 27th August 2022.
• Entries will be submitted via the Market website, instructions will be provided by the Market Manager. Entries must be received by no later than 5pm on 31st August – following which time the best entries will be loaded to the Farmers Market website and social media for public vote.
• Voting will be done by button click on the website. As part of voting voters will be asked to provide their email address to be used for future Market communications.
• Only one vote per email address will be accepted.
• Votes will be tallied with the top three finalists announced on 9th September.
• The top 3 finalists will be invited to attend the Canberra’s Best Young Aspiring Chef cook off at the markets on Saturday 17th September. The live cooking event will be photographed/videoed by the Market and/or media with content shared. By taking part you agree to being photographed and or filmed.
• This is a competition of skill and the winner will be judged on the day by a local Canberra chef (TBC), with the winner scoring a $300 voucher to be spent at the Capital Region Farmers Market and the two finalists also winning a $100 Voucher each.
