Floriade About Town

Floriade About Town

This spring, the Capital Region Farmers Market is going Intergalactic! As part of Floriade About Town, we’re celebrating the theme of Space, the universe that is our market.

Every Saturday, over 100 growers, makers and foodies gather to form a vibrant galaxy of flavour, colour and creativity. Each stall is like its own shining star. From farmers who read the skies and soil to bring us fresh seasonal produce, to bakers and makers who orbit the market with handmade treats, flowers, and artisan goods.

Weekly Highlights

  • Rotary Information Tent:  Each week Rotary will showcase the community projects funded by the market.
  • Family Fun:  Kids can get creative with art activities, have their faces painted, and enjoy live music as they explore the market.
  • Stellar Flavours: Our producers will highlight “space-inspired” foods, from Turkish Moon Rocks to cosmic-looking fungi.
  • Stars of the Week: Each week we’ll spotlight a different produce, from mushrooms (thought to be one of the first food groups that will be used to help colonise Mars!) to seafood (the fascinating “aliens of the sea”).

Just like the cosmos, our market is full of discoveries waiting to be explored. Wander through stalls that celebrate the science of nature: the way seeds sprout, bees pollinate, and how the seasons guide what’s on your plate. Meet the real “astronauts” of our region: the growers, farmers, and producers who nurture life from the ground up.

Celebrate Floriade About Town with us and take a trip through the universe of local produce at the Capital Region Farmers Market. It’s truly out of this world!
