NEW: Meet ‘The Big Cheese’ from The Cheese Project

Fresh cheese from new stallholder at the Capital Region Farmers Market, The Cheese Project Maureen House is one of the first graduates from the Artisan Cheese Making Academy Australia (TAFESA Regency Campus), and her mission is to make as much fresh cheese for Canberrans via The Cheese Project.

Growing up in an Italian family on a farm in Western Australia where cheese and butter making were part of everyday life, and also being lucky enough to spend a year in Italy where access to fresh cheese was a given, she decided to set up an artisan fresh cheese making venture in the ACT to make cheese varieties from pasteurised cows’ milk.  Maureen makes a number of delicious varieties from a purpose built facility in Hume with milk coming from Canberra Milk, and cream from either Riverina or Country Valley.

Come in to the Market to try her fresh Halloumi, Primo Sale, Fresh Curd, Persian Feta and Crème Fraiche. Other varieties may be available from time to time. You can find Maureen at the Market every Saturday morning. Just say Cheese!
