Members of the Rotary Club of Hall recently donned aprons, hairnets and gloves for a charity cooking evening, Meals From the Heart, bringing together fellowship, service and the very best of our local food community.
The evening was a practical demonstration of Rotary’s commitment to service above self. Six Rotarians gave their time in the kitchen to prepare nourishing meals for families with sick children staying in Canberra’s Ronald McDonald House, turning fresh ingredients into care, comfort and connection.
What made the night especially meaningful was that the produce at the heart of the menu was of course sourced from our very own Market.
From farm gate to kitchen bench, the evening celebrated the strength of local growers, makers and volunteers. It also highlighted the special role that our Market plays in connecting producers directly with the community, while helping Rotary support important local and regional projects.
For all who took part, Meals From the Heart was more than a cooking session. It was a reminder that small acts of service, shared generously, can make a very real difference. Every chopped vegetable, stirred pot and created casserole carried the warmth of community spirit.
The Rotary Club of Hall thanks everyone who contributed their time, energy and good humour to the evening, as well as our producers whose Market-fresh ingredients helped make the meals possible. Together, they showed how local produce and local people can combine to create something truly heartfelt.
