As we continue to reflect on our birthday year and celebrate 20 years of the Market, we have enjoyed sitting down with some of our long-term stallholders to find out what their time at the Capital Region Farmers Market has meant to them.

Majestic Mushrooms have been with us at the Market since 2006 and we’ve had the absolute privilege of watching them grow from those very first boxes of mushrooms to what they are today, a major supplier to not only us here at the Market but also to supermarkets and wholesalers.

First coming to Market by himself with his harvest of just 20 boxes of mushrooms, Ian was originally unsure if he would even sell any produce, but he sold out in no time! It didn’t take long for Majestic Mushrooms to start getting fantastic feedback about their quality and freshness, and the customer base grew from there. Reflecting on this, Ian shared that customers still remember the first Market they attended and have bought mushrooms weekly ever since!

Ian quickly realised he would need help to meet growing demand, so his wife Helen and his 3-year-old daughter, Jacinta, came along to the Market to lend a hand. Now all these years later, Jacinta (who is now 21!) helps manage the stall when Ian is unable to attend.

Ian and his family truly embody the spirit of the Market and bring so much joy to our community with their stories, advice, and a true passion for their produce. What truly sets them apart is their genuine connection with customers. They thrive on conversations and love to hear all their customers’ feedback.
