What’s in Season – Autumn Produce

As Canberra turns back the clock for another year, those of us who relish the capital region climate begin to embrace the telltale signs of winter’s approach.

April is such a great time of year with school holidays, Easter, and ANZAC Day offering many occasions to get together with friends and family to enjoy the region’s best seasonal autumn produce.

For many, this time of year conjures up comforting thoughts of creamy pumpkin soup with a warm crusty bread. Smells wafting from the kitchen from delightful desserts and pastries being created using the late season harvest of apples and pears.

This month at the Market, you can expect to find new-season apples and pears, juicy figs, fresh ears of corn, plump grapes, and tangy pomegranates.

With the changing of the seasons and the approach of school holidays, Easter is also just around the corner.

If you’re looking for fresh, local produce to make your Easter occasion even more special, the Market is your one-stop shop.

Here’s a couple of quick highlights for the Easter produce available this weekend:

High quality seafood caught locally off the NSW South Coast from Narooma Seafood Direct.

Delicious chocolate treats from the historic Junee Licorce and Chocolate Factory and Jasper and Myrtle Chocolates, who handcraft all of their chocolates from cacao beans imported from Peru and Papua New Guinea.

And of course, an amazing range of Hot Cross Buns across the Market.

Discover spiced pumpkin or choc lava buns at Husk Bakery, the famously delicious HCB’s from Three Mills Bakery, chocolate varieties at Origin Bake, and even gluten free buns at new stallholder pyoor.viand.
