In the Canberra region, our farmers and producers are very busy at this time of the year.

Loriendale Orchard, an organic farm just outside Hall have in season quinces and 20 apple varieties for sale including the lesser known but delicious Ida Red, Maiden’s Blush, Twenty Ounce, Blushing Gold, Rome Beauty and Democrat.

Just down the road in the Wallaroo area, Peter & Caroline, from Homeleigh Grove, are busy preparing for their olive harvest. Starting this weekend they will pick early season olives, ear marked for marinating.  In a few weeks time you will find their new season olive oil for sale too.

The Pentony Family who trade with us a Gleann na Meala are always busy.  Renowned for their selection of organic vegies and delicate salad leaves.  Paddy has just added organic broccoli to his CRFM approved produce list.

The lads from Cuppacumbalong at Tharwa have their Open Range Eggs for sale every Saturday.  Bruce reports that even though it’s a bit cold, the girls are still laying well.

Bruce from the Pork Barrel Bakery also does a cracking gourmet pie.  You can’t go past the Chicken & Leek.  Handmade pastry, organic chicken and leeks from Cowra.  Eat them on the spot or take a 6 pack home.

Capital Region Farmers Market Stallholder - Recipe Book Cover PhotoIf you love Minto Galloways, you will be disappointed tomorrow as Greg and Chris happen to be in Denver at the American Grassfed Beef Association Conference for the ‘Less Meat, Better Meat symposium’.  It’s not just a fluke that their meat tastes good.  It’s their passion research and dedication to the breed and their brand that make them such a popular stallholder.

This Saturday is the end of the season for our vegie grower, Pa La Mon, from Pialligo.

It’s almost the end of the fresh garlic season from the Michelago area.  Stock up from Ingelara over the next 3 markets.

Don’t forget our CRFM Recipe book is for sale at the Jerrabomberra Rotary tent.  Perfect for that special Mum or Dad.
